LOCATION:

San Rafael, CA

400 homes at 1,000 sq. ft. (per home avg.)

400,000 sq. ft. Total

DESCRIPTION:

This home was designed to be a small 3 bed, 1 bath Habitat for humanity home that would respond to the “mass customization” movement and the New Urbanism ideals. It takes advantage of mass production technologies such as a prefabricated “plugable” wall that houses all of the utilities and acts as the main structural component to the home. This allows the most expensive and professionally time intensive portion to be built efficiently thus creating a more affordable, uniquely styled, compact home that breeds a sense of neighborhood between neighbors and communities.
